Lifestyle and Culture editor, Eve Moore, 21, has been named as H Magazines inspirational woman after dedicating her time for the past two years to rehome over 250 dogs all over Europe.
With the help of her friends, family and support from the student union, Eve has been able to visit Bosnia, Cyprus, Greece, Romania and Istanbul to rehome stray dogs.
“Many people aren’t aware of the stray dog problem across the world and the way in which they are subjected to such cruelty.”
In 2014 Eve rescued her first dog, a dachshund called Albert. After doing this she created an Instagram account that soon became popular with animal lovers. The account led to Eve becoming the Rehoming Manager for the charity Wild at Heart Foundation.
Eve has rehomed dogs all over England and Europe including Manchester, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, France and Holland. Once a dog is rehomed Eve takes the time to stay in contact with all her adopters and monitors the progress of the dogs.
Her success has enabled Eve to launch Shelter Dog Photography which helps local dogs and to do small scale rescue organisations she did this through the Social Enterprise Scheme with the student union.
“I love doing what I do, it’s so rewarding when a dog was particularly neglected and suffered emotional scars you can see that being rehomed completely changes their life.”
In the last two years Eve has received an overwhelming amount of support from her dad and stepmum who encouraged her to pursue her work with the dogs.
And her mother even adopted a dog from Bosnia. Her friends have also helped out and allowed her to foster a great dane, called Wilbur, for an entire month after the original adoption fell through.
“I got really attached to him and loved him, I could have easily kept him but with uni it wasn’t possible. I was thrilled when he was rehomed to the Shetland Islands.”
Rehoming dogs wasn’t something that Eve anticipated, but seeing the change to the animals first hand just motivated her even more.
At the moment Eve’s main focuses are dogs, journalism and photography which gives her a lot of a job options for Eve to explore.
